The Story of Elvel has brought together Indigenous storywork, visual anthropology, ethnographic mapping, the art of puppetry, shadow theatre and cinematography to retell a story told by Tatiana E. Gutorova. This story is a window into the ancient world of Itelmen People and enspired a multi-year film project the goal of which was to support continuation of the Itelmen language and culture. On the screen, Elvel’s heroes come to life through shadow and puppet theater, Itelmen songs and melodies, and the memories of Elders.
EVERYONE WELCOME
