This training introduces the updated English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) and Proficiency Level Descriptors (PLDs) set to take effect in 2026. Participants will explore key changes and learn strategies to effectively support emergent bilingual (EB) students in developing language proficiency. Through engaging discussions and practical applications, participants will discover how to integrate language support into content-area instruction.
Participants will leave this workshop equipped to:
Understand the key updates to the ELPS and PLDs and their impact on instruction.
Implement effective strategies to accelerate language proficiency within content-area lessons.
Support emergent bilingual (EB) students with targeted scaffolds that promote academic success.
