Elle McNicoll is the author of A Kind of Spark, winner of the Blue Peter Book Award and the Waterstones Children's Debut Fiction Prize, and was crowned Blackwells Book of the Year in 2020. In 2023, A Kind of Spark was adapted by the BBC, which went on to win Best Children's Programme at the Royal Television Society and Broadcast Awards, as well as being nominated for an Emmy. It is listed in the 100 greatest children's books of all time.
Her other middle grade books include Show Us Who You Are, Like a Charm, and Like a Curse. Elle is also the author of Young Adult romances Some Like it Cold and Wish You Were Her. She is a five time Carnegie nominee.
