As part of our 2024 Texas Music Series, the CAC welcomes Elizabeth cook to the stage! Elizabeth Cook is an American country music singer and radio host. She has made over 400 appearances on The Grand Ole Opry, the most of any non-member. She’s also made 6 appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman, and he has appeared on her radio show Elizabeth Cook's Apron Strings on Sirius XM’s Outlaw Country only once, but he hardly ever goes anywhere.Cook is "the daughter of a hillbilly singer married to a moonshiner who played his upright bass while in a prison band. Elizabeth was onstage singing with them when she was 4. She formed her first band when she was 9. Her album, Balls, produced by Rodney Crowell, including "Sometimes It Takes Balls to Be a Woman”, shows that she’s clearly not your grandma’s country singer.
In addition to her radio show, her TV show, Upstream with Elizabeth Cook, features her joining a musical guest as they talk music, explore inane topics, share deep thoughts, and try to catch fish. Fishing isn’t the goal. It seems she’s not your grandpa’s country singer either.
