About this Event
A January afternoon walk in Eliza Howell Park providing an opportunity 1) to identify several tree species by their bark, 2) to estimate the age of some mature trees by measuring their trunks, 3) to examine dormant buds waiting for spring, and 4) to observe some seeds and leaves remaining on trees.
Clothing appropriate for walking among the snow and unpaved trails is recommended.
Please note that the entrance to Eliza Howell Park is immediately west of the newly-started bridge work on Fenkell, and the bridge is closed to traffic. You can reach the park entrance by approaching along Fenkell from northbound Telegraph Road. The park entrance, interior road, and parking areas were resurfaced this fall, and the park has just reopened for vehicles.
You'll find Kathy and Mara parked about halfway around the loop.
