Elevate Your Watercolors: 4 Color Strategies that Rock!

Come join us for a hands-on workshop at Kreate Hub Nashville with artist Nancy Deckant who'll guide you through contrasting color strategies that elevate your art.

What if you could transform your paintings simply by making different color choices? In this course, you'll explore how colors can be grouped to bring cohesion, harmony and excitement to your artwork. Take control of your palette and see how strategic color choices can significantly enhance your final results. We'll explore how these 4 color strategies :

1. Value: The typical way of planning the placement and degree of light to dark contrast.
2. Color Intensity: Use of the subtle variations in hue to create a yummy effect.
3. Pure Color: Contrast pure color against a little “mud” to make your painting sing.
4. “Muddy” Magic: When your colors go muddy, learn how to save your painting!

• Beginning or experienced watercolor or acrylic artists

• A table/workspace and dropcloth for each participant
• Access to the instructor's masking tap and other accessories

• If you are an experienced artist bring your favorite paper, paint, brushes.
• If you are new to watercolors, here's a great beginner set. Go to CheapJoes.com to order American Journey Beginner 6 Color Beginner Set that includes paper, paint and brushes. Other great paint brands are "Daniel Smith" or Windsor Newson (most expensive). Avoid "student" grade watercolors. The final result is never great.
• Palette for your paint
• Pencil to sketch (4B) and Kneaded eraser
• A few containers for water (I use Fage yougart containers)
• Paper towels to clean up messes.
• A board 1" larger than your paper to prop up your painting like wood, masonite, cardboard. If you paper is in a "block" you can use that.
• An apron to protect your clothes

• Feel free to sketch your subject on your paper before class. Keep it simple!
