Tony Hawks Gets (Non) Violent is a one act musical with songs about the life of the extraordinary Marshall Rosenberg, an American psychoanalyst who broke away from the mainstream medical establishment and devised Non Violent Communication – an extremely effective method of resolving conflict and helping people to better understand each other. The piece is both entertaining and thought-provoking, telling the story of Marshall’s unusual life and recounting many of his best stories about his work as he travelled the globe trying to unlock seemingly intractable conflicts. The show is fun (although not a comedy) and it is designed to introduce ideas to an audience which can help them navigate tricky relationships both at work and elsewhere.
The show runs about an hour – but has always continued on with an interactive question/answer session or group discussion about the issues raised.
Tony Hawks is the best-selling author of, amongst others, Round Ireland With A Fridge, and is a regular panellist on BBC Radio 4’s I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue and Just A Minute.
Written and performed by Tony Hawks.
