Have you ever wondered what it’s like to connect across difference?
Join us at Kingsgate Mall for a unique experience where we address the Elephant in the Room. This is a unique conversation space where we practice engaging with perspectives that are different from our own. It’s a chance to exercise your curiosity, listen deeply, and learn from the diversity in our shared world.
Why Join Us?
In a world often divided, we believe in building bridges. Through this experience, we aim to foster understanding and connection—so that the things that we disagree on, don’t have to divide us.
How will it work?
As you pass by The Elephant in the Room event, you're invited to take part in a unique conversational experience. A facilitator, easily recognizable by their elephant hat, will greet you and introduce you to the process, along with our community guidelines. From there, you decide how deep you'd like to go in the conversation.
Choose Your Level of Engagement:
The Mouse Level – Perfect for those who prefer lighthearted discussions. Questions here might include, "Should superheroes have to pay for all the damage they cause?" or "Does fruit count as dessert?"
The Cat Level – For the curious minds ready to explore deeper topics like, "Is Vancouver a lonely city?" or "What happens to us after we die?"
The Tiger Level – If you're ready to dive into complex and challenging discussions, this is your space. Topics might include, "Should borders be open for everyone?" or "Is colonialism a thing of the past or present in Canada?"
Fly on the Wall – Not ready to join the conversation just yet? No problem! You can simply observe and listen.
What Happens When You Join?
- You'll receive a button that represents your chosen level.
- You'll get a welcome guide outlining our curiosity guidelines and offering additional conversation prompts.
- You'll join a table with others who have chosen the same level.
- Each table will have a set of questions aligned with the chosen level to help guide meaningful discussions.
The goal? To interact with someone who holds a different perspective and to explore why they think the way they do.
