Grading: Moderate Trail (Point of Despair) to High (Peak);20kmTrekking Time: 7 hours
Hike Summary
Elephant hill forms the southern tip of the Nyandarua Range, which hosts the Aberdares National Park.
The first part of the hike is basically through farms used to grow trees and crops. The chlorophyll shadows of the exotic giant grass of the bamboo forest form the next part as the gradient gets steeper. The hike follows an elephant migration route all the way to Point of Despair. The hike then goes up the Elephants Tail before the final walk to the summit. Return to base on the same route.
