ABOUT THE ARTIST
Eleonora Karpukhova's journey as a pianist is one of passion, dedication, and an untiring search for artistic perfection. A graduate of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, she earned her degree with honors in 2000 and continued as an assistant-intern until 2003. Today, she serves as an Associate Professor at the Conservatory, sharing her expertise with the next generation of pianists.
Her accolades include First Prize and a Special Award at the 29th "Dr. Luis Sigall" International Piano Competition in Viña del Mar, Chile, along with Second Prizes at competitions like "Jose Vianna da Motta" in Lisbon, "Varallo Sessia" in Italy, and "Zlatko Grgosevic" in Zagreb. Winning the Dr. Luis Sigall competition gave rise to a more than 15-year-long artistic collaboration with orchestras, conductors, and concert venues across Chile. Critics have praised her performances, with Domingo describing her Mozart Concerto No. 20 in D minor as "pure bliss and serenity."
Eleonora’s repertoire is wide-ranging, but its particular focus has always been on the oeuvre of the Russian Romantic Period. Her long-standing connection with Rachmaninoff’s music led her to organize and lead a festival of Rachmaninoff chamber concerts in 2013, “Rachmaninoff Fest”. "I wanted to create intimate evenings dedicated to Rachmaninoff's music," she shared in a 2013 ProArtInfo interview. This experience later inspired her to perform the composer’s complete piano works. The idea was warmly received by the Moscow Conservatory, where from 2021 to 2024 a series of eight concerts took place, covering Rachmaninoff’s entire piano legacy. As a lasting memento of the series, The Moscow Conservatory Recording Studio published a set of five live-recording CDs.
Most recently, she performed in various venues in Russia, from Kamchatka in the East to Ekaterinburg in the Urals, to Murmansk in the North, as well as Moscow and Saint-Petersburg. Her international appearances included recitals in Kazakhstan, China, and the USA.
