Election Night Singing Circle

If you'd like to ride out the storm of this election night in community, this circle is for you. If you'd rather escape from the anxiety-inducing back and forth poll results and news updates, this circle is for you. If you'd like to use song as a tool to sit with the uncertainty of the moment and the future to come, this circle is for you.

This circle will be emergent and responsive to the needs and emotions of the group. Multiple facilitators and songleaders will be present, and there will also be many moments where the group can shape the direction of the night and others will be invited to songlead. As usual, we will blend together call-and-response songs, vocal improvisation, meditation, movement, and other somatic exercises to bring us into embodiment and presence.

While there will be space in this circle for conversation and sharing about the emotions coming up for us around this election cycle, this circle is not intended to hold intellectual political conversations, or any attempts to change anyone else's political beliefs.

Timing: 8 until late. We will go for as long as the energy is alive and people want to be together. All are welcome to come and go from this circle as you please.

Poll Updates: We want to stay in the know about important updates while avoiding the anxiety of being glued to our phones / TV. We will have a designated "poll checker" available to share updates every hour or so, as the group desires. Everyone else should leave their phone in a basket before entering the room. If arriving late, please do not share any updates on the election results in the circle without asking first.

Location: Orange Door Collaborative is a short walk from the central square red line stop, right by Life Alive. You will need to buzz in the front door. ODC is up the stairs when you enter the front door. The space has it's own blankets, yoga mats, and cushions available.

Bring: a water bottle.

We will also hold a sunrise singing circle the morning of November 7th for folks who want to gather then after we (theoretically) know the elections results. More details to come.

RSVP & Cost: We encourage RSVPs through Eventbrite, but walk-ins are welcome too. Sliding Scale $5-20. You can pay through eventbrite, pay cash at the door, or venmo @bostonareasingingcircles. No one turned away for lack of funds.
