All Indiana County Democrats who are interested in volunteering on Election Day are invited to attend a planning meeting from 10 AM to Noon on Saturday, October 12, 2024, in the public meeting room of the Indiana Free Library in Indiana. This event will be an official meeting of the Indiana County Democratic Committee (ICDC), and all Precinct Committee Persons are encouraged to attend.Election Day roles include POLL WORKERS, POLL WATCHERS, and POLL GREETERS;
Some Democrats are already employed by the County to serve as POLL WORKERS. The Elections Office does the training for those individuals who actually run the polling places. Any POLL WORKERS who are available are welcome to attend to help explain the restrictions inside the precincts.
ICDC leaders will differentiate the roles of POLL WATCHERS and POLL GREETERS and share guidelines for doing these important jobs.
In addition, we will have a need for volunteers who want to assist in getting out the Democratic vote (GOTV) by making "ballot chase" calls to persons who have not yet returned mail ballots and those who have not voted in person by mid-afternoon.
Our Voter Protection Team will also be invited to explain how we will address any concerns that may arise during the day on November 5, and how the vote count will be monitored..
Finally, we will also welcome any volunteers who want to do hospitality runs to workers located throughout the County. Those individuals will also be on call for driving anyone who may need assistance in getting to their polling place. (We find with mail-in voting there is not much demand for this service.)
Water, Coffee and Breakfast Pastries will be provided. The Indiana Free Library is at the corner of 9th and Philadelphia Streets in Indiana, and the meeting room is on the second floor. There is an elevator to the right of the main entrance.
