We are pleased to announce that El Cortez YEG is hosting an upscale tequila tasting with master distiller Enrique Fonseca! This event will feature 0.5oz tastings of 13 different tequilas, paired with small snacks to compliment each. Join us to discover premium tequilas and refined flavors!
About Enrique:
Renowned Master Distiller Enrique Fonseca Cerda, Sr. was born in Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco, Mexico in 1958. He is the fourth generation of agave growers within the Fonseca Family, who in 1989 acquired Tequileña S.A de C.V. in Tequila, Jalisco. At an early age, Enrique was interested in the cultivation and development of blue agave, grains, citrus fruits and raising livestock. His passion for art, architecture, business, and creativity led him to acquire a visual arts diploma in Toronto, Canada (1978-1979). During the summers of the early eighties, he attended in-person seminars at Harvard Business School to complement his studies at the U of G, where he achieved a bachelor’s degree in architecture in 1983. Enrique’s connection to his roots and devotion to improving the quality of blue agave cultivation continues to be his primary focus. He is dedicated to the tequila industry and draws on his creativity to transform the processes. From harvesting the blue agave through to distillation and aging, his goal is to produce 100% agave tequilas that compare with the world’s greatest distillates like cognac, armagnac, and single malt whiskeys. The research has been fundamental in creating new-aged, extra-aged and vintage-white tequilas with unique expressions of their terroir. This has resulted in the positioning of the Fonseca Family as one of the best tequila producers internationally. Master Distiller Enrique Fonseca Cerda, Sr. actively participates in the formation and creation of new projects that seek to develop tequila production to the highest standards of quality and originality.
