Artsenta is proud to host an auction of artworks by the late Eion Stevens, a colourful modernist artist with a national reputation. This is a fundraiser for Artsenta that opens on 9 October and runs to 23 October.Stevens was born in Dunedin, studied at the Otago Polytechnic School of Art, and went on to amass a significant body of work that is auctioned annually to support charitable organisations.
Artsenta has been chosen as the charity for this year's auction which is being facilitated by Haywards Auction House. Eion Steven's had his own mental health challenges and so it is awesome that his work is supporting other people facing similar challenges.
50% of the proceeds from the sale of artworks will go to Artsenta to help with our work and to support our 40th year celebrations in 2026. The remainder goes to the Eion Stevens Estate to cover storage, transport and insurance of Eion's artwork.
An exhibition of artworks will be available for viewing at Artsenta from 10-23 October. The online auction will begin at 5pm on 9 October in conjunction with the official opening.
