Eid in the Park is back!The date of Eid will fall on either Sunday or Monday, but its most likely to be on Monday inshaAllah. Please arrive in the park at 9:30am, salah will stand at 10am.
BACKGROUND
A unique opportunity for you and your family to comfortably perform your Eid-ul-Adha prayer under the open skies of Peterborough in accordance with the traditional practice of the Prophet (saw).
It is the consensus of the scholars that it is preferable to pray Eid in an open space, all together, rather than being split up into individual groups or mosques. Here are clear opinions from past and present scholars on this topic:
“The practical Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of God be upon him) was to leave his mosque for the Eid prayers and perform these prayers in the musalla that was at the outer gate of Medina. ”

“Going out to the prayer-place for Eid prayer is Sunnah, even if the Jaami’ Mosque is large enough to accommodate them. This is the view of the majority of sheikhs and it is the correct view. ”

“Sunnah on the day of Eid ul-Fitr...To offer the Eid prayer in the Eid prayer place. That is, one should not offer Eid prayer in the masjid without any valid reason....it is makruh to offer any other prayer on that day at the place where eid prayer is offered - not before the prayer nor after it.”
