This is an 11-mile walk, starting from Egerton, which lies on the Greensand Ridge nine miles north of Ashford.Setting off on the long-distance path of the Greensand Way, we proceed through orchards and farmland, making progress to the very quaint Boughton Malherbe. We continue across to Liverton Street, at which point we leave the Greensand Way to head further north above Fairbourne Heath.
On reaching Water Lane, we head down a byway and through woodland to reach the above mention Fairbourne Heath, for a pub stop at the wonderful Pepper Box Inn, which we have stopped at on a previous walk last year.
We make our return to Egerton through mostly open countryside, passing through Grafty Green, during this second-half on this undulating circuit. As well as the pub stop, there will be as ever, our 20 minute lunch stop at a suitable stopping point en route.
Non-members are welcome to participate in up to three walks, before joining the Ramblers.
