About this Event
The talk reflects on the career and legacy of Edward Nevin, Professor of Economics at the University of Wales between 1963 and 1992, to mark the centenary of his birth in 1925. The event considers the approach and contemporary relevance of the Swansea School of Economics in addressing the contemporary challenges of inflation, the National Debt, public sector pay, banking stability and the development of financial markets in emerging economies.
The talk coincides with the publication of 'Edward Nevin: An Impression of his Life, Times and Legacy', a short biography of 159 pages, including twenty photographs recalling key moments during his career, and three paintings by the Welsh post-impressionist artist Gareth C. Thomas (1955-2019), which capture the book's spirit as a relatively brief impressionistic account, rather than a lengthy blow-by-blow formal biography.
The book is published in Kindle, Paperback and Hardbook versions at https://www.amazon.co.uk/Edward-Nevin-impression-times-legacy/dp/1963748921
