Workshop will include best practice scenarios for interpreters in K-12 settings, including analysis of relevant ethical dilemmas, review of professional boundaries and safety protocols, discussion of how the RID CPC, IDEA, and ADA may be applied to diverse situations, and practical business practices, e.g. creating an invoice, completing time sheets, professional expectations. Directives of clients and best practices will be reviewed for each school district and client in your area.
Participants will be able to:
- Apply the CPC to educational settings and ethical dilemmas
- Explain the interpreter's role in a variety of educational settings
- Describe District policies, guidelines, and expectations
- Discuss ethical business practices and apply to actual time reporting and invoicing
