Learn the basic concepts needed to succeed in the lighting industry and grow your career in this half day, introductory level course.
About this Event

This course is an ideal introductory seminar for those who are new to the lightning industry or who deal with lighting as a smaller part of their larger work responsibilities.

It also serves as an excellent stepping stone for those wishing to pursue more advanced courses in the future.

For those more experienced or knowledgeable about lighting, please watch for our in-depth Fundamentals of Lighting course, which will be held later in the program year, as well as other educational opportunities.

Course Overview

Lighting Basics aims to equip students with an understanding of basic lighting concepts, common lighting terminology, and an appreciation for some technologies used in today's lighting designs.

Students will learn about lighting metrics like lumens, footcandles, lux, and candelas, as well as common terms as they relate to lamps, ballasts, LED sources and drivers, and lighting fixtures. The emphasis is placed on understanding the basic concepts rather than in-depth technical discussions on the material.
