Renowned as a comprehensive tool for filmmakers and a one-stop shop for all things film, workshop participants will learn about its user-friendly interface that empowers filmmakers. With its complete Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) on the sound page and an editing page boasting more power than Premiere, DaVinci Resolve offers robust capabilities for film production.
This workshop will primarily utilize the free version of DaVinci Resolve, ensuring accessibility for all participants.
The key objectives of this two-day workshop would be learning:
- Ingesting, organizing media, adding metadata and renaming clips inside DaVinci Media page. Being an awesome DIT and Assistant Editor.

- Editing in a color space aware timeline and setting up your project for quicker, easier output.

- Making timelines, keeping clips and audio organized on the Edit page. 

- Exploring various editing functions on the Edit page.

- Bringing the edit into the Fairlight page for sound editing, foley, sound mixing and mastering. Introduction to 5.1 Dolby sound.

- Exploring the color page - primary, secondary corrections, power windows and film looks. How to define a palette and an introduction to color theory. 

- Delivering media, different file formats, what's best for which medium. YouTube deliverables. 

About the instructor:
Mandeep Sodhi is a screenwriter, cinematographer and editor with 17 years of experience in film. He is an educator who teaches film to film enthusiasts and film students. He uses teaching as a way to deepen his understanding of the art of cinema as he examines his own process while he teaches it. His contributions span 6 feature films, 4 documentaries, 40+ corporate and music videos, 16 short films, and diverse web series roles. Based in Canada since 2011, he teaches at the University of Winnipeg, balancing his filmmaking passion with personal projects.
