About this Event
Rex was 19 and still a student at the Slade school when he met Edith in Italy in 1925. She was 53, grieving for the loss of her sister Mildred, and not yet a writer. ‘Outsiders’ in the high society world in which they found themselves, and bonding over a shared love of poetry, they were uniquely able to inspire each other to begin to create.
Penelope Middelboe is the great great niece of Edith Olivier. She edited Edith Olivier: From Her Journals, 1924-1948 which covered the last 24 years of Edith’s life.
