11am - 12:30pm | Talk: Women and Art in Aotearoa
A panel discussion with authors and editors:
- Jill Trevelyan (Edith Collier: Early New Zealand Modernist, 2024)
- Kirsty Baker (Sight Lines: Women and Art in Aotearoa, 2024)
- Hanahiva Rose (contributor, Sight Lines)
- Lissa Mitchell (Through Shaded Glass: Women and Photography in Aotearoa 1860–1960, 2023)
Facilitated by Tina Barton, this session will explore fresh perspectives on the role of women in New Zealand art history. Books will be available for sale and signing.
2-3pm | Edith Collier Exhibition Tour
Join curators Jill Trevelyan, Jennifer Taylor, and Greg Donson for a guided tour of Edith Collier: Early New Zealand Modernist.

10.30-11.30am | Lecture: Edith Collier – Adventure in Art
Jill Trevelyan, curator and co-author of the Edith Collier book, will discuss Edith’s artistic development and modernist works produced during her years abroad from 1913 to 1921. The lecture will explore her response to World War I and the lasting impact of her work.
1.00-2.30pm | Lightning Kōrero: Edith Collier Exhibition
Contributing writers from the book Edith Collier: Early New Zealand Modernist will share insights on selected works in the exhibition. Speakers include Jill Trevelyan, Scott Flutey, Celia Thompson, Airini Beautrais, and Gordon Collier.
