About this Event
Hey there, future scientists and tech enthusiasts! The 2025 Edison Lecture Series will take place on Friday, February 14 at The University of Texas at Austin's Engineering Education and Research building. The Edison Lecture Series is a free, interactive STEM learning experience that engages middle and high school students with the fun side of electrical and computer engineering. Edison attendees learn the fundamentals of an engineering topic through a university-style lecture, then see these concepts come to life through hands-on demos. Be part of the excitement!
The 2025 Lecture Topic is Machine Learning. Have you ever wondered how computers can recognize faces, recommend your favorite songs, or even beat humans at games like chess and Minecraft? It’s all thanks to machine learning, a fascinating technology that helps machines ‘learn’ and improve from experience. In this talk, we’ll break down the basics of how machine learning works, explore some of the cool ways it’s changing the world, and even talk about how you could start using it yourself one day. No experience is needed—just bring your curiosity and excitement to discover the magic behind the tech you use every day!
All of the lectures are the same. Register to attend whichever is most convenient for your group. Plan for your group to spend at least an additional 45 minutes to an hour to browse 15 - 20 interactive electrical & computer engineering demos in our exhibit hall, which will be open from 9:45 AM - 11:30 AM!
