About this Event

EDC Wilderness Survival prepares you to survive a disaster, learning how to meet all your basic needs with a few, simple pieces of gear that are easy to carry and essential to your survival. The focus is on modern survival skills, emphasizing basic skills, equipment, and preparedness with the expectation of rescue within 72 hours. Utilizing everyday carry items you’ll learn to provide for your basic needs of shelter, water, fire and food. This training is an investment in the ultimate back-up plan (you) if a situation goes south.

Takeaway: Students will know how to utilize every day carry items to secure shelter, water, fire and food. They will leave with confidence in their ability to survive the unexpected

Recommended Equipment/Materials:

  • Food for meals & snacks
  • Water (there is a well on site, but well water is an acquired taste)
  • Bug spray, sunscreen
  • Fixed blade full tang knife
  • Poncho
  • Steel canteen or water bottle
  • Ferro rod
  • Sawyer water filter
  • Folding Saw (great option is the Corona Saw at Lowe’s Corona Saw )
  • Paracord

Accommodations: Students are encouraged to stay overnight for full survival experience, but by no means are required to. If traveling from out of town there are many comfortable accommodations nearby. We recommend a hammock with a bug net or tent. On site, we also offer primitive shelters that students can stay in.

Where will we sleep (overnight classes only)? Students aren’t required to stay overnight and are welcome to stay in a hotel or home if nearbyand come back in the morning. For those wishing to stay on site we have several primitiveshelters available (but they are not bug proof), or you are welcome to utilize a hammock with abug net over it or a tent, which is much better for keeping bugs out.

What is the bathroom situation? Port-a-potties are available on-site

Should I tip my instructor? Tipping is common in this industry, but please don’t feel pressured to do so. If you feel that yourinstructor has gone above and beyond to provide you a quality class and you would like to tipthem, it will be greatly appreciated.
