YOCO warmly invites you to share in an evening of co-created community, connection, & joyful self-expression.Ecstatic Dance is a free-form, conscious dance practice where individuals have an opportunity to abandon themselves to the rhythm provided by our Lovely DJ...moving freely to the music...without specific steps or choreography. Participants dance alone or with partner/s, with or without physical contact.
Each dance begins and ends with a facilitated circle. (Please note that you must be on time for opening circle in order to participate). The Sweet Container We'll create together will help support you on your musical journey & provide a wonderful opportunity to process through movement...or even stillness as you feel called... assisting you in letting go of anything that no longer serves you... making space for that which you desire!
Individuals are encouraged to dress up, dress down, be comfy cozy, & expressive in their dancing gear... Whatever feels good & helps you to be in your body.
This is a substance & judgment-free environment... Where you get to Do & Be YOU!
Some say Ecstatic Dance is the New Yoga... A moving Meditation & Spiritual Practice... allowing participants to connect with their bodies, emotions, & others...promoting Self-Expression, Emotional Release, Healing, & a sense of community. Dancers are encouraged to let their bodies lead, embodying their feelings & experiences.
Evening Schedule:
Doors open at 6:40PM
7:00pm Opening Circle (Please note, you must be seated in the circle by 7:00 pm, as the doors will close at that time.)
7:15-8:45 PM Dance
8:45 PM Closing Circle
Ecstatic Dance (E-dance) Guidelines:
Please no talking on the dance floor—A lounge space will be set up to allow for quiet conversation and rest.
Please wear comfortable clothes to move in and plenty of water! And no shoes! Socks are OK. Additional water will be provided.
Ecstatic dance is akin to a yoga class. Please arrive ON TIME for the opening circle. While all are welcome, doors WILL close once the opening circle has begun to protect the sensitivity of each individual's physical, emotional, and mental experience. Props are available; participants are asked to clean props after use.
E-dance is NOT a club or party experience; it's a carefully facilitated event designed with the intention to promote the union between Mind, Body, & Spirit... much like a yoga class. However, please feel free to leave at any time.
The YOCO studio is scent free for the health and comfort of those with allergies. All are welcome!
This event is family friendly and Donation Based.
