WELCOME BACK!The days keep getting longer, and spring is well under way. And so too is the blossoming of inspiration being felt behind the scenes for us at ED/KW!
We’re excited to announce that we’ll be hosting our second event, featuring the rich soundscapes of KW’s own Amanda Elemental (check out her BIO below), at the Button Factory: a beautiful, spacious venue in the center of uptown waterloo. And what’s more–as we lean into the momentum leading the way–we’re also feeling blessed by the support of a stellar line up of talented and enthusiastic DJ’s, set to take us all the way into next year.
We can’t wait to be dancing with you all again soon!–and feeling enlivened as we continue evolving this together, meeting in our shared desire for more of these intentional, Ecstatic Dance spaces in KW!
WHAT IS ECSTATIC DANCE?
Ecstatic Dance is a freeform, conscious dance practice and sound journey. Created by the community for the community, these are intentional, co-creative containers for exploring embodiment, self- expression, catharsis, and play—all through the transformative medium of movement and music.
This is a space to be yourself, discover yourself, become yourself, and support one another in doing the same.
THESE ECSTATIC DANCES ARE:
Non-Verbal,
Sober Spaces,
And we invite you to leave your shoes at the door.
THE SCHEDULE IS:
7:30 - 8:00 pm | Doors Open
8:00 - 8:15 pm | Opening Circle
8:15 - 10:15 pm | DANCE
10:15 - 10:45 pm | Sound Bath & Integration
And THE MUSIC:
Carrying us through forest, valley, and mountain on our two hour sound journey, from ambient lows to ecstatic highs and back again, will be KW’s own AMANDA ELEMENTAL.
Drawing inspiration from her Palestinian heritage, Amanda's musical style transcends traditional genre boundaries. By infusing elements of house and techno with a variety of rhythms and cadences, she creates intuitive and meaningful connections with her audience.
Known for energizing dance floors, Amanda's sets range from sun-soaked daytime parties to underground raves and ecstatic dance events. Her unmatched vibes reflect her passion for music and commitment to creating welcoming and uplifting spaces for all.
