Ecstatic Dance KW Presents: Origins ~ Featuring Christian Zero

Ecstatic Dancers,

On Saturday, March 29th, we DANCE in celebration of the 1-YEAR ANNIVERSARY of our small-town (but mighty!!!) Ecstatic Dance movement.

Held by special guest Breathwork and Sound-Healing facilitators, and featuring Ecstatic Dance Veteran DJ, CHRISTIAN ZERO, Origins is a homecoming: not only as a recognition of EDKW’s birth and evolution, but also as a call to presence the embodied wisdom that lives and has always lived within us.

ORIGINS is an invitation to return to this embodied wisdom, through an ancient language of breath, of rhythm, of movement. This is fundamental to the practice of Ecstatic Dance, and in collaboration with our facilitators, we’ve crafted a journey.

ORIGINS is an Ecstatic Dance that underscores what is on offer at every one of our dances, bringing it to the fore, bringing it to our attention so that we can enter more deeply into that offering:

Through breath, we awaken to our inner strength, our resilience, our capacity to feel and know. Through dance, we give shape, passage, and creative expression to energies that words cannot hold. Through healing sound we can soften, surrender, and return to the stillness of our being.

We so look forward to approaching and entering the magic of our individual and collective Origins with you. May we retrieve and enliven the best of who we are, and lovingly release what is ready to be shed; and may we carry what we’ve learned and embodied back into the world with us!

WHAT IS ECSTATIC DANCE?

Ecstatic Dance is a freeform, conscious dance practice and sound journey. Created by the community for the community, these are intentional, co-creative containers for exploring embodiment, self- expression, catharsis, and play—all through the transformative mediums of movement and music.

This is a space to be yourself, discover yourself, become yourself, and support one another in doing the same.

✨INTRODUCING OUR DJ: CHRISTIAN ZERO

Christian Zero's experience working with a range of music genres since 1999, has led to his signature style of multi-genre "intuitive dance" journeys. This working experience includes: The launch party for HBO Canada; The Heineken fashion show in Montreal; Launch of the National Geographic Channel; Kajama Full-Moon Cruise for alienInFlux; Cherry Beach for Promise; Studio Parties for Platform Entertainment; Nuit Blanche for The Drake Hotel; Bring the Heat 3 for Yad Productions; Soulshine Festival; Chocolate Groove's Equinox & Solstice Specials; Church of Dance; Sonic Springs Festival; Electric Island, CODA Nightclub, and Vertigo Toronto.

When Christian isn’t DJing, he’s Co-Founder at Symbio ~ Resort for Holistic Wellness and the Arts, an embodied commUnity, dedicated to cultivating intuition and supporting personal evolution. Christian combines decades of experience as a VJ with his experience as a DJ to facilitate immersive multi-sensory experiences called VortexVoyages, first debuted at DREAMjunction.

✨GUIDED BREATHWORK: Led by TYLER GRAHAM

Tyler is a sound bath practitioner and breathwork coach trained in conscious, connected breathwork. He uses breathwork as a way to help guide individuals out of their head and into their body, using breath as a tool to release emotions stored within our body and minds. He pairs breathwork with guided spoken words and music for an intentional release

✨SOUND BATH and HEALING

Offered by CHELSI RODRIGUES & TYLER GRAHAM, who will be supporting our grounding and integration at the close of our dance.

Chelsi is a sound bath Practitioner who has been offering sound healing ceremonies for over 2 years now. She hosts mostly woman's events but has offered her wellness services in many diverse settings and events. She loves holistic wellness, especially sound and movement. Her passion lies in bringing people together and sharing her tools with the communities she enters.

Featuring JEN PRIOR, curator and creator of this month’s aesthetic blessing.

PARKING:

There is parking available (both paid and unpaid) at the Church, but space is limited. The nearest over-flow parking garage is at the KPL, a five minute walk from us, and street parking is also available on some side streets (e.g. Ahrens, Roy, Margaret).

If you have accessibility needs and require a spot at the Church’s lot, please contact us, and we’ll be happy to reserve a spot for you.
