Come join us for a night of freeform movement and self-expression at De La Sol Yoga Studios! Ecstatic Dance is a space where you can let loose, connect with yourself, and vibe with the music. No judgments, no shoes, just pure movement. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or just looking to shake off some stress, this event is for you. Let the music guide you and dance like nobody's watching. About the event:
Join DJ Sammy C in her debut with the De La Sol Crew to welcome the Winter Solstice in a night of Ecstatic Dance! Usher in the darkest night of the year, and welcome the return of the light with movement, breath, dance, music, community and joy.
About ecstatic dance:
Ecstatic Dance relieves stress and tension from the body by inviting you out of the mind and into the body. It is a form of self-expression, intuitive, unguided movement supported by a musical journey guided by DJ Sammy C spinning live. You are encouraged to move however you feel moved. Ecstatic dance is meant to bring you joy, happiness and vitality!
There is no talking on the dance floor. Smiles with your eyes and mouth are welcome! The dance floor is a space for you to let the music move you. It is also a safe space to explore any and all movement, whether that means stretching, or shaking, gliding, stomping, spinning, or snapping - however the music wants to move through your body.
No prior yoga or dance experience is required!! There is no right/wrong way to move.
The ecstatic dance floor is a space of non-judgement and non-attachment - two key pillars in Yoga Philosophy. You do not need a partner, nor do you need to perform for anyone. What emerges in your dance is an expression of what's inside you: tune in to what needs to be moved, released, recognized or seen.
Chill out & connect with community in the Sun Room:
There will also be an opportunity to connect in the chill out zone in the sun room next door, if ever you need a break from the dance floor. Cushions, blankets and all the supportive props will be there for you to unwind, tune-in or engage with others.
Space holders will also be available as dedicated support if you feel the urge to share your experiences or anything that surfaces.
The flow:
Upon entering the building on the ground floor, you'll walk up to the second level and be greeted by one of our lovely volunteers. They will check you in, tell you where to find the bathrooms and then write your name on a piece of tape to stick across the back of your shoes, once removed. Shoes are to be kept in the hallway.
Once inside the studio, barefoot, one of our other volunteers will be there to show you around to the changerooms, hydration station, Sun Room & Dancing Room.
The evening will start in circle with community with a cacao ceremony & intention setting. You'll then be guided on a journey by DJ Sammy C to awaken the mind, body & spirit through afro & organic house, live instruments, mantra and intention.
To finish the evening, we will gather in unity and quiet contemplation, supported by a healing sound bath. In our satsang, sharing circle, we will close the evening and share event details for the next sound journey.
What to bring:
- your ticket and proof of registration
- an empty water bottle for your hydration once in the studio
- yourself & your dancing feet (we will be in bare feet though socks are welcome)
- your intention, an open heart and mind
What to wear:
- dress in layers in something comfortable
- anything you would wear to a yoga class
- cotton or linen clothing for breathability
Photography consent:
By purchasing a ticket you consent and acknowledge that there may be a photographer/ videographer onsite to capture the moments for future promotional material.

By purchasing a ticket you consent and acknowledge that you are responsible for any injury that may occur while onsite in attendance of the event. The host(s) and venue are not responsible for any injury that may occur.
