On the 24th of January 2026 ATEMA will be the guide on our Hero's Journey Dance. Atema (AKA Janis) is committed to creating spaces in which dancers - fully present to themselves and others - can explore new ways of moving, feeling and interacting. Coming from techno and house music he loves the possibilities and diversity of ecstatic dance and builds journeys designed to move dancers through all different kinds of emotions. ___________________________

The word ‘Ecstatic’ comes from Greek ‘ek’ (out) and ‘sta’ (to stand) and can be taken to mean ‘to stand outside of oneself’. Ecstatic Dance is way of getting out of your mind for a while and into your body.
Most English language dictionaries define ‘ ecstatic’ as “feeling or expressing overwhelming happiness or joyful excitement”. Ecstatic Dance is actually a way to practice welcoming ALL emotions and giving them physical expression.
No shoes, no booze, no chit-chat! At Ecstatic Dance Bern we provide a safe substance free space to dance freely without words.
Doors open and music begins at 19:30 PM. At 20:00 PM there is a guided warm-up followed by free dance alone or together with others, in whatever way the music moves you.
Entry fee is CHF 25 (students up to 30 years old) / 30 (normal) / or 35 (for those who want to support our work).
