About this Event
There’ll be no January blues at our next event at Carnival House, Southwick, just soul stirring music, a magical dancefloor and a lovely bunch of people ready to dance.
Dance can be a dynamic meditation, it can be a way to process emotions, a form of self-expression, or you can dance for the sheer fun of it. There is so much to be gained from moving through any self-limiting barriers and letting go on the dance floor. Whatever you choose to bring to the dance, you open the potential for an alchemy to take place, to leave a little lighter, a little bit more in ‘flow’ and experience the joy which comes from dancing together with like-minded souls.
You can expect a range of music genre - a clubbing feel with a lot of soul. Expect a mystical journey with galactic beats - organic, shamanic, afro house, tribal, psychedelic techno, psy-trance, soul, disco, folk and just damn good music carefully curated to ignite your passion for dance. We always start with a short meditation leading into guided movement and then it’s freestyle all the way. The tempo slowly builds up to a high energy before dropping down gradually to stillness. This allows you to explore different movements, emotions, and textures of music.
Come and join us, leave your Ego at the door and bring your Soul to the dancefloor - allow your true self to emerge during the dance and experience movement as a spiritual practice. Oh and wake up the next day filled with energy and enthusiasm! No hangover and no beer fear 😉 just a heart full of love and a big inner smile. This is an opportunity to release inhibitions, express freely, and connect with the primal joy of movement in a safe, supportive space. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a curious newcomer, everyone is welcomed with open arms!
Carnival House has a cosy café within it so feel free to arrive early and relax with a hot drink before the dance starts.
Ecstatic dance guidelines:
No booze – let your dance be fuelled by your true inner fire without the crutch of substances.
No shoes (grip socks or light indoor shoes allowed) – connect to the earth beneath your feet and feel the floor support you.
No chit chat. – talking takes us out of the experience and the more you fully engage in the dance, the deeper the experience. We create the magic of the dance together with our participation and we co-create a safe space by respecting all dancers. This is an opportunity to create connection to self and community.
