Join us for Ecstatic Dance in Arlington at our new home the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington located at 4444 Arlington Blvd!Come vibe out on May 18th from 2:30-5:30pm for our 3.5 hour monthly, mini-retreat experience ✨
Ecstatic Dance is a freeform dance meditation that allows you to embody your most joyful and playful self in a safe, sober container. The event begins with an embodiment warmup to get us tapped into our bodies, goes straight into dance meditation with a live DJ, and cools down with a sound healing experience.
This is a 2 room experience with one room as a dedicated dance floor and one room curated as a “chill out room”. The chill-out room is intended as a lower stimulation space with soft lighting, pillows, and blankets for rest, low volume conversations, tea, and enjoying offerings from local vendors including energy & tarot readings, body work, jewelry, and more!
We can’t wait to welcome even more people to our beautiful ecstatic dance community and co-create a sacred dance container at the super warm & welcoming Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington! For those who aren’t familiar with the Unitarian Church system, it is a community space for every faith and background to gather and is welcoming and affirming of the LGBTQ+ community! You can expect to see rainbow flags and spiritual symbols of all faiths throughout the space ??️???✨
The rules of the event are simple:
- Consent first! ALWAYS wait for consent before dancing with someone, if you don’t wish to dance with someone put your hands in a prayer position to thank them and move along.
- No shoes. So we don’t step on anyone’s toes.
- No chit chat on the dance floor. Yelling out in joy is allowed!
- No alcohol or substances. This way, we can be super present with each other.
- No photos or video of the dance floor. Photos and videos of the DJ are allowed with the DJ’s consent.
- All forms of movement or rest is encouraged! Go cuddle up in the chill-out room with a blanket and pillow and take a sensory break. The music will be waiting for you when you’re ready to return!

Rubaba aka Hemant Kapoor as our music and movement guide from open-to-close with his Ecstatic Kirtan offering! ✨
Ecstatic Kirtan is part ecstatic dance and part Kirtan. Its roots lie in Naad yoga, the yoga of sound from ancient India. Rubaba fuses Indian classical Sanskrit, Avadhi, Hindi and English chants with world music employing rabab, guitars, keyboard, analog synths, wind pipes, percussions, upright bass and mixes it with electronica, blues, RnB to provide a holistic listening and dancing experience. The goal is to align all chakras and experience unity within oneself.
Rubaba will open the experience with gentle music and movement prompts, bring us up to the dance peak with high energy sacred chants + electronica beats, and close the experience with a mystical sonic journey and guided meditation.
KiVibes, our resident vendor, will be offering energy + tarot readings and short reiki healing sessions in the chill out room

Schedule:
2-2:15: welcome & get settled, leave your shoes and personal items on the edges of the room or chill out space.
2:15-2:45- embodiment warm up
2:45-4:15pm - dance experience
4:20-5:15 - sound healing cool down
5:15-5:30 - community sharing circle: share one word to describe your experience, longer discussion about anything that came up for you, and share community announcements
Plenty of parking available in the large parking lot! Please enter the church from the main entrance and come down the stairs to the basement area where the dance experience will be held.
