Hop on the eco-buggy for an evening tour of Deep Creek Preserve and enjoy s'mores by the campfire!
About this Event

The Volusia County Explore Volusia program invites you to climb aboard the eco-buggy and discover what creatures lurk in the night at Deep Creek Preserve! Environmental Specialist, Tommy Nordmann, will discuss the myths and facts of some of the nocturnal animals, including owls and bats, found in Volusia County. Afterwards, we’ll have s’mores by the fire at the Deep Creek campsite.

** Important note: Please arrive 15 minutes prior to complete a waiver. Waivers must be completed in full to participate in the program. Waivers can be downloaded at Explore Volusia and completed ahead of time.

** Some GPS devices and phone apps will take you to the wrong location. Please confirm the meeting place and directions ahead of time. You can navigate to the exact location using this link: https://maps.apple.com/?ll=28.951442,-81.097185&q=Dropped%20Pin&t=h

ACTIVITY: The tour will take place on a hay-ride style, covered trailer with benches. There will be some easy, short walks, and we'll end the evening sitting by the fire.

RESERVATIONS: Required. Unless you have a confirmation email, you are not registered.

TICKETS: No printed ticket is necessary.

AGES: All ages are welcome.

ATTIRE: closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing for the outdoors

** Some of our trails have mud and/or standing water because they are located in wetland ecosystems and because of seasonal rains and high tides. We recommend you bring a pair of waterproof boots in addition to your regular hiking shoes if you don't want your shoes to get wet. Our leader will let you know the condition of the trails prior to the start of the program.

WHAT TO BRING: water, bug spray, blanket, flashlight, dinner, and s'mores ingredients (some s'mores ingredients will be provided)

FACILITIES: There is a port-a-let but no running water on site.

**There are benches by the fire ring, but feel free to bring a comfy camping chair.

For more information, contact Tommy Nordmann at [email protected] or call (386) 943-7081, ext. 21266.

** Following the successful completion of your registration, you should receive a confirmation email, and two days prior to the program you will receive a reminder email. These emails are sent automatically by Eventbrite. If you do not receive them, please contact Tommy at the email address above.
