The Echoes exhibit explores the subtle correspondences between landscapes that never meet. The images speak to one another and invite the viewer to look beyond their locations, revealing how nature often returns to the same gestures of form. From water to ice, from mud to stone, the work follows a gradual cycle of transformation, where each formation becomes an imprint shaped by time.
Oana Ruxanda (b. 1989, Bucharest) is an emerging photographer working mostly with analogue processes. A flâneur at heart, she often carries her camera with her, drawn to moments that often pass unnoticed and sometimes carry a quiet story she has lived herself.
Her practice moves between observations of everyday life, including incidental, sometimes humorous encounters with people, and contemplative studies of remote landscapes. She is interested in how individuals and environments shape one another, as well as in transience and material memory. Natural light, colour, texture, and weather play a central role in shaping the atmosphere of her images.
In recent works, she has expanded her practice into mixed media, incorporating materials collected from the places she photographs and blurring the boundary between image and physical presence.
Potop (b. 1989, Bucharest) works across multiple mediums, moving freely between projects rather than settling on a single subject. He sometimes depicts things as he sees them, but most of the time he what he paints or draws are subjective memories of places, things or people rather than their literal appearance. His work usually forms on paper through an exchange of marks and impressions, as one shape or line “asks” for another until the composition is finally silent. Guided by curiosity, he explores how natural and artificial environments leave lasting impressions and shape the way we see and remember.
