About this Event
How might we approach our food choices if eating felt less like choosing a paint color or a playlist and more like an opportunity to be a good neighbor, a loyal friend, a fair-minded judge, a compassionate caregiver, an advocate for the unjustly persecuted? What if eating, despite initial appearances, is not just a private act of personal preference, but a public act of deep spiritual significance that invites us to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly every time we break bread? In “Eating as an Act of Justice,” Matthew C. Halteman invites us to embrace greener eating as a compelling and joyful way to connect the dots between religious food ethics and climate action, drawing on fresh ideas from his new book, , available in November. Everyone is welcome!
Note: This talk is also the first event for a half-day conference for scholars entitled "Higher Education & Creating a Climate-Friendly Food System." If you are signed up for the conference, you do not need to sign up for this event separately.
