About this Event
The connections between eating food and drinking alcohol are complicated, and those of us choosing to live without or with less alcohol likely find our relationship with food changing in unexpected ways. In this program, Jenna will explore the many facets of the relationship between food and alcohol, how this changes when one decides to stop or cut back on drinking, and what we can do when emotional eating causes anxiety, shame, and distress. By sharing her own story and vignettes from the folks she’s worked with, Jenna will support participants to develop strategies for working with emotional eating that are sustainable, flexible, and resilient.
Participants will:
- Understand the difference between a chemical addiction and a behavioral addiction
- Be able to describe their relationship with food and how this has changed as the result of drinking less alcohol
- Develop techniques for working with emotional eating that reduce distress and harm and maximize satisfaction and nourishment.
