About this Event
Join us for a gentle evening stroll along Mells stream and under the limestone cliffs of Vallis Vale. The walk starts at the edge of Frome where we will head over fields with a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. We will then head down to Vallis Vale where we will walk through ancient woodland and past remnants of the vales industrial past all the way to Great Elm where there is a beautiful old stone bridge. We will then follow fields and country lanes back to Frome where the walk will end.

Time: 2 hours
Elevation: 98m
Grade: Very Easy - suitable for complete beginners. Mostly flat with a few short hills.

About your guide:
Hi I'm Alice, qualified mountain leader and CEO of The Adventure Girls Club. I'm passionate about reconnecting women back nature through adventure and outdoor skills. I set up the club because I didn't feel like I belonged in the outdoor community and I wanted to create a safe space for women like me to head out and enjoy the outdoors in their own way. I love meeting all the lush people who come along to our events and it's best feeling seeing everyone come away feeling more connected to nature and making connections with other like-minded women too.
Transport:
This walk is accessible via car and train. We will meet here just off of Vallis road - there is free roadside parking.
You can get the train or bus to Frome. It is then around a 30 minute walk through Frome to the start of the walk.
What to bring:
- Hiking boots, wellies or trainers (that you don't mind getting muddy)
- Snacks and/or packed dinner
- Bag to put water and snacks in
- Water
- Waterproofs and a warm layer depending on weather
- Small first aid kit with personal Medic*tion
Toilets:
There are no toilets on this hike so you will have to embrace what I like to call a 'wild wee'! Luckily, forest walks have plenty of hidden spots for this. If you need to go, just tell someone in the group and hang back for some privacy.
Safety:
I like to make these hikes as enjoyable as possible for everyone, so I keep a slow and steady pace. It's about taking in the views and being in nature, not about rushing to the finish line. Having said that, you are responsible for your own health and safety. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on these hikes, please either consult your doctor or let me know your concerns.
I am a Qualified Mountain Leader and I am level 3 Outdoor First Aid trained so I will be on hand in case of an emergency.
Dogs:
Well behaved dogs are more than welcome on my hikes, however, there will be livestock around and potentially other dogs, so they will need to stay on a lead for parts of it.
Refund Policy
Refunds will only be given if the event is cancelled. If you can no longer attend you are more than welcome to sell your ticket to someone else but please let me know if you do so.
