Museums. Kevin’s History Talk will depict how early settlers to this area found uses for the native quartzite rock. Stone buildings appear in the new town of Sioux Falls as early as the late 1850s.
Through historic photos, this presentation looks at the rise and fall of East Sioux Falls, a quarry town and discusses the importance of the quarry industry to this area.
On occasion Historical Markers have “Gone Missing” for reasons
both known and unknown. Such was the case with the Electric Motor Line marker. However, thanks to the generous support
of the Mary Chilton Chapter and Foundation of the Daughters of the American Revolution this historical marker has been remade and will be rededicated at the September History Talk at the Mary
Jo Wegner Aboretum at 7:00 pm on September 18. The public is invited.
