Nurture Nature Center (NNC) celebrates Climate Action Week with an event and art installation at Bethlehem and Easton Public Libraries. Through NNC’s CREATE Connections project, NNC has been partnering with local libraries to bring programming and events promoting sustainability.Six local artists have been working with the center to create interactive art installations which will be revealed on Saturday, October 11th (Bethlehem at noon and Easton at 3pm) at public events. Artists participating in the project are: Lynn Alexander, Jamie Cabreza, William Christine, Lauren Kindle, Charles Stonewall, and Cleveland Wall. Visitors to the exhibit will be able to contribute their thoughts in a large art book that will remain part of the exhibit. They will get to learn more about the CREATE Connections project and take home a free ‘climate-friendly’ kit filled with supplies to spark sustainability efforts.
Additionally, students attending Professor and Artist Deirdre Murphy’s “Big Questions” class at Lehigh University, will be contributing works they have created. Big Questions is a course that looks at the creative practice of visual communication and artmaking focused on the intersection between art and climate change.
The installations will be exhibited at the libraries from 4-6 weeks.
