A gentle stroll round the village looking at its heritage and the conservation issues it faces.
The walk starts at the cross and looks at the history and heritage of one of the most important settlements in medieval Wirral. We will see vernacular buildings and the exterior of the church and the church yard with its famous yew tree and consider some of the conservation issues facing villages like Eastham. We will talk about the Stanleys who were powerful lords of the manor and once proprietors of the ferry. Although the walk will not take in the Country Park we will talk about how it was once the ‘Richmond of the Mersey’ famed for its pleasure gardens.

P ublic Transport: Eastham Rake Station, served by frequent trains from Liverpool, Birkenhead, Chester and Ellesemere Port, is 1 mile from Eastham Cross. Buses run from the station to the A41.
Buses 1, X1, 38, 41, 42 run from Birkenhead Bus Station to the A41 (hourly journeys on the 38 go through the village to Eastham Ferry).
Buses 1 and X1 run from Chester and Ellesmere Port to the A41.
Buses 16 and 17 run from Moreton, Woodchurch and Bebington to the A41.
