About this Event
The Directors of Children’s Services in the East Midlands are committed to improving the outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND). For the first time, local areas within the region have agreed to undertake a collective SEND Peer Challenge event. This builds on the successful regional Children’s Social Care Peer Challenge.
The activity is a significant undertaking, bringing together local authorities and Integrated Care Boards (ICB) to scrutinise current practice, support and outcomes for children and young people with SEND. The preparation is well underway and involves submission of each local area’s Self Evaluation Framework (SEF) and data from both local authorities and ICBs. On 16th October, small local area teams will challenge each other, through 2 or 3 lines of enquiry that have been developed following analysis of the key documents. Directors of Children’s Services will use the learning from the activity to help shape future improvement work within the region.
