The community is invited to an open house information session about the reconstruction of East Grand Avenue from 5-6pm Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Downtown Beloit Association Office, 557 E. Grand Ave. The project boundaries are from State Street and Pleasant Street; the intersections will remain open the majority of the project. In addition to the roadwork, work will be completed on sidewalks to meet current accessibility standards. Safety upgrades will also be included with removable bollards installed near the entrances of the outdoor farmers’ market.
The work will begin this winter and is expected to be completed in the spring prior to the opening of the outdoor Farmers’ Market.
The road will be closed to through traffic during the project with a full closure for paving. Sidewalks will be closed during construction. Businesses will be accessible from the rear entrances. We will provide more information about ways to access downtown businesses during the closure when construction starts.
City staff and an engineer from Ayers Associates, the design team working on the project, will be available to answer questions and receive feedback at the meeting.
The project is funded through a Wisconsin Department of Transportation Local Roads Improvement Project grant
