About this Event
Low-income and BIPOC communities, including communities of Aboriginal Americans, throughout Allegheny County bear the greatest burden of environmental impacts to their health and wellbeing, decreasing their quality of life and their overall life expectancy. We are facing various environmental crises as we are experiencing more violent storms, increased rain, hotter temperatures, and more intense weather patterns. We must work collectively and strategically to begin repairing the damage that has been done throughout history to people living in environmental justice communities throughout Allegheny County.
That’s why the Environmental Justice Table is coming to Pittsburgh’s East End! We are joining forces with folks across the nonprofit sector to bring attention to the environmental injustices happening in the East End and throughout Allegheny County. We will offer environmental justice education about how the environment impacts one's physical and mental health. We come to provide resources that are solution-focused and that help individuals and families protect themselves from everyday environmental toxins and hazards such as water filters, air purifiers, educational materials, DIY demonstrations, gift cards, and more.
