Discover how active tourism can drive revenue at historic Killerton Chapel, with expert speakers and complimentary access to House & Gardens
About this Event

Join us on Tuesday 7 October for Trails to Success: Active Tourism at the historic Killerton Chapel, where we'll explore how your business can tap into the growing market of active visitors who choose to explore East Devon on foot, by bike, or using sustainable transport options.

Starting with networking at the welcoming Stables Cafe, we'll then walk through Killerton's beautiful grounds to the Chapel for presentations that demonstrate how active tourism can drive revenue while supporting environmental goals. This unique venue provides the perfect backdrop for understanding how heritage sites and walking routes can work together to create compelling visitor experiences.

Our expert speakers will share practical insights on developing active tourism opportunities:

  • Paul Osborne

Green Infrastructure Project Manager for Clyst Valley Regional Park

Paul will take us through the exciting walking and cycling trails in development, including insights into the Killerton Landscape Recovery Project and how these green infrastructure projects create new opportunities for local businesses.

  • Ted Swan

Co-founder - Sidmouth & East Devon Walking Festival

Ted will explain the festival's aims and origins, demonstrating how collaborative events can drive visitor numbers and economic impact.

  • Eve Maunder

Sidmouth & East Devon Walking Festival

Eve will share popular specialist walks run in partnership with tourism operators such as the Donkey Sanctuary, showcasing successful collaboration models that keep spending within the local economy.

  • Cllr Kevin Walker

Sidmouth Town Council in association with the Sidmouth & East Devon Walking Festival

Kevin will speak about why the council has supported this project from its beginning, highlighting the importance of public-private partnerships in developing active tourism.

  • Speaker TBC

National Trust Killerton

A representative from Killerton will discuss the Chapel's restoration work and the site's role as a destination for active visitors exploring the estate's accessible trails.

All attendees will receive complimentary access to Killerton House and Gardens for the day. Why not take advantage of the final weeks of the UnFlappable Fashion Exhibition? Or visit the Crowther Exhibition after the event?
