About this Event

Join us for a Hudson River loop ride on the EAST COAST GREENWAY! START For NJ residents: Take one of the NY Waterways ferries to 39th Street in NYC  (note, maximum of 10 bikes per ferry). See schedule here: https://www.nywaterway.com/FerryRoutesSchedules.aspx Note: you will NOT be met by a ride guide for this part of the trip.

START: For NY residents: Meet at Unlimited Biking (formerly Bike and Roll) @ 43rd St. and 12th Ave in Manhattan 9:00AM. We will leave at 9:15AM.

END: Paulus Hook, NJ or Brookfield Place, Battery Park City, Manhattan, NY (Alternate ferry routes may be taken as desired, or PATH train may be taken apx. 10 blocks north of Paulus Hook ferry terminal)

Lunch Stop: Turning Point Cafe (outdoors)

Join us for a 24-mile loop bicycle ride on the East Coast Greenway from Pier 84 (43rd Street) in Manhattan along the Hudson River Greenway north to and across the George Washington Bridge into NJ and then south along the Hudson River Greenway's NJ sections down to Paulus Hook, past Newport, where we will take the ferry to Brookfield Place for those going back to Manhattan. Those needing to return to Manhattan may do so by Ferry, PATH train, or by cycling back over the GW Bridge.

The ride will be at a very easy pace of 9-11 MPH. This ride very popular and with good reason, it's a beautiful and fun ride!  There is a cautionary route on River Road in NJ with no bike path for about a mile, and bikes must have good brakes and multi-geared bikes are recommended.

Parking is available on the street as well as in parking garages at the beginning of the ride for those crossing over by ferry to Manhattan. Need to rent a bike? Our start location is at Blazing Saddles, which rents bikes. They open at 9AM. * Each rider is responsible for the cost of their transportation back to Manhattan. We usually ride rain or shine but if the weather is particularly unpleasant, you will receive a cancellation email at 7:00AM on the day of the ride.

RIDE LEADERS: Scott Baker, Anthony Savarese, Jeff Behm, and other volunteers for the East Coast Greenway Alliance.

For more information, contact me at [email protected].

COST: There is a suggested donation of $10 to join this ride, which supports the ECGA's mission to create a 3,000-mile Greenway from Maine to Florida. Donate $50 or more and you'll receive a year membership to the ECGA! This tax-deductible donation supports the ECGA's mission to create a 2,900-mile trail from Maine to Florida. (FUN FACT: The ECGA was founded in New York City in 1991!) Already an ECGA member? There is no required dontaion for the ride. Just select the ECGA Volunteer ticket.
