Why is Earthworkers such an important course?

Aotearoa’s horticulture sector plays a large role in damaging our ecosystem through intensive negative practices, inputs and tilling. Learning how to be a biology-first farmer offers the opportunity to play a leading role in turning this sector around. We integrate knowledge from permaculture, biointensive, biodynamic, regenerative and synthropic disciplines. Our intention is for participants to come away with a sense of practical optimism, a way forward in growing radical hope through food within local communities.

Grounded in successful practice For The Love Of Bees’ flagship urban research and education farm OMG (organic market garden) is led by these biology-first principles and is a self-sustainable business exploring high yield, biodiversity and soil restoration opportunities in New Zealand.

Our research, innovations and education sits within a contemporary soil science framework. We combine practical experience with the wonder of new knowledge on microbial life that soil science is currently discovering. Joining these two influences together provides farmers and farmers-to-be a pathway to run a successful horticultural venture.

By the end of the course, you will have explored:

- the importance of utilising biology-first principles for growing food

- the practices that support abundant biodiversity and the production of nutrient dense food.

- practical tools and strategies to use in your own regenerative setting

By attending this course you become a part of an optimistic and connected network of growers who are healing the planet.

We provide online mentoring and peer-to-peer learning for continued post course support and success. We are committed to support our participants to gain confidence in becoming regenerative growers
