An Earth Week community clean-up event will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd. Volunteers are asked to join in and help collect refuse and litter as part of this event. Interested individuals are encouraged to meet at SingleSpeed Cedar Falls (128 Main Street) to check in starting at 4:00 p.m. Individuals will be provided trash bags, protective gloves, high visibility vests, as well as guidance and sent out to collect litter around the downtown area and Cedar River. Upon successful completion, a beverage of choice will generously be provided by SingleSpeed to participating volunteers.Clean-up events provide an opportunity to be actively engaged within your community. Litter is a common and widespread pollutant affecting all river bodies, aquatic creatures, and us humans. By cleaning up litter and preventing it from getting into streams, we improve water quality for our community and all that rely on our local ponds, creeks, rivers and lakes. We all live in a watershed and all have a role to play.
This event is made possible thanks to support from the City of Cedar Falls and their Annual City-Wide Clean-Up Week coinciding with Earth Week as well as the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the Dry Run Creek Watershed Improvement Project, and SingleSpeed Brewing. The clean-up will take place rain or shine so please plan and dress accordingly.
