About this Event
This year’s theme of "Healthy People, Healthy Planet," aims to raise awareness about environmental conservation and sustainability. It stands as Savannah's largest environmental outreach event and one of the most significant educational gatherings related to Earth Day in Georgia.
The driving force behind Earth Day Savannah is Savannah's Office of Sustainability. Their presence underscores the event's commitment to encouraging community engagement, providing operational cost savings through efficiency and compliance support, and conserving natural resources for current and future generations.
The event will feature an array of community nonprofits such as One Hundred Miles, Caretta Research Project, The Dolphin Project, and Wilderness Southeast (WiSE), among others. Additionally, Savannah City and Chatham County departments will share valuable information on various environmental initiatives and services.
Art enthusiasts will have the chance to experience Joanne Morton's immersive community engagement art project, the Make Earth Day Every Day Manifesting Mobile. This large-scale hanging mobile, crafted from recycled materials, symbolizes positive visions for the planet and invites participants to contemplate their role in creating a sustainable future.
Attendees can look forward to engaging activities and presentations throughout the event. Highlights include sessions by Be Smart Home on energy efficiency, discussions on sustainable fashion, and empowering young climate activists. Children's activities, provided by local community groups, will offer opportunities for hands-on learning and exploration.
