About this Event
Join us for a day of community and environmental stewardship as we engage in a hike and community clean-up! Come connect with nature, meet like-minded folks, and make a positive impact on the environment in this "no experience necessary" event!
Date: April 20, 2024
Time: 9:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M.
Location: Scarlett Mills Parks to Cruikshank Park
Hike Distance: 4.5 KM (we will hike back the same distance to Scarlett Mills Park post clean up)
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Scenic Hike: We'll kick off the day with a slow hike along the Humber River Recreational trail immersing ourselves in the beauty of nature. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or just starting out, this trail is for everyone to enjoy!
Community Clean-Up: Following our hike, we'll channel our energy into giving back to the environment by participating in a community clean-up. Armed with gloves and garbage bags, we'll work together to remove litter and debris from the trails and surrounding areas, leaving a lasting positive impact on the environment.
Socialize and Connect: We invite you to connect with nature, yourself and other participants during the hike and clean-up. Community building is essential and we look forward to connecting with you!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Comfortable hiking shoes
Weather-appropriate clothing
Refillable water bottle
Sunscreen and hat
Gloves for the clean-up (we suggest gardening gloves)
THINGS TO NOTE:
Registration is required to ensure we have enough supplies and resources for all participants.
Come enjoy the outdoors, give back to the environment, and make a difference in the Weston community. Let's hike, clean, and create a brighter, cleaner future together!
*While the hike portion of this event is created specifically to accomodate Black, Indigenous and racialized women and femme identifying folks, the community clean up is an open call and thus will be a mixed community event.
Sign up now to reserve your spot. We can't wait to see you there!
--------------
This hike portion of this event is open to Black, Indigenous and racialized women of colour.
Waivers and photography consent will be provided upon registration and must be signed prior to participation. We capture images of our events to ensure folks can see themselves represented in different outdoor activities. If for any reason you do not wish to be photographed, please ensure this is noted on the waiver. While we aim to respect all wishes, any photos taken specifically as a group will be shared with the BGOW community but will not be used to generate any financial compensation.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
