Come out for an evening of information and entertainment! Doors open at 6pm so you can browse informational booths and the event begins at 6:30pm.The evening events will include:
- A presentation about 'Mini-Forests' by Dale Horeczy (REAL). A Mini-Forest is a community of diverse native trees and shrubs planted tightly together and based on the Miyawaki method. This method emphasizes the use of dense plantings, diverse locally-native species, soil preparation, and multilayered design to mimic the complexity of a native forest. This dense planting technique results in taller plants in a shorter time period. Mini-forests provide habitat for wildlife and green spaces for people to enjoy. They also help reduce runoff, flooding and urban heat. About 300 trees and shrubs were planted in an area of about 100 square meters.
- “She Won't Come in from the Fields" a short play performed by Dale Colleen Hamilton about regenerative agriculture, followed by a facilitated discussion with Alberto Suarez
- A presentation about 'Selecting the Right Tree for your Yard' with a focus on urban landscaping by Allan Goddard
The event will conclude around 8:30pm.
