Earth Day is an opportunity to give thanks to the many blessings Mother Earth offers us every day.

We will be honoring the Earth through our hearts & bodies-- these holy temples lent to us by Mother Earth. With the medicines of cacao, ceremony, & dance, we will offer our bodies love, joy, play, and appreciation.

Dorothy is a co-founder of Cacao Source, a direct trade, organic, ceremonial cacao company based in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. She has been connecting with Mayan communities and sharing sacred spaces with cacao since 2018. Cacao Source builds bridges between the modern world and the communities that steward this medicine. Dorothy has led dozens of cacao ceremonies and co-hosted 8 Cacao Training Programs in Lake Atitlan. Her reverence for cacao comes from the beautiful rainforests and people who grow the medicine.

Twerkaba's sets defy categorization, a swirling booty bass vortex that draws from the deepest wells of World Bass, Baile Funk, and Bounce beats. His sets are a sonic tapestry woven with playful abandon and raw energy. Influenced by world instruments, Twerkaba’s productions skillfully fuse organic and electronic elements at a booty bouncing tempo for a unique spin on the world bass genre. Producer, DJ and Performer, Twerkaba channels 10 years in theater and dance to energize a crowd like no other, making every performance a night to remember.

Expect to be held by the Earthly cosmic embrace of Cacaocita, and to connect with a renewed sense of purpose in life, woven into a deep sense of fun and play, and a dash of beauty.

FAQ:

What should I bring to the event?

For some of this event, we will be gathered in a sacred circle, for which I invite you to wear clothing that evokes your magical self. Underneath, you can wear clothing that allows for free movement. You’ll probably break a sweat during the dance. You're also welcome to bring your own mug!

What is cacao?

Cacao is the seed from a tree that grows in the tropical rainforests. Guatemala, from where this cacao is grown, is the home to strains of cacao that have been selectively bred for thousands of years by the Mayans who revered cacao and wove it into their ceremonies. The spirit of cacao is loving and nurturing, like a mother. It contains theobromine, which opens your heart and increases your heart rate. It also contains a small amount of caffeine.

Who should not drink cacao?

If you are taking SSRI Medic*tion, low blood pressure Medic*tion, or are undergoing chemotherapy, just take a few sips of cacao. It is advised by western medicine that women who are pregnant should just have a small amount, though in the Mayan tradition, cacao is a useful ally for pregnancy.
